Dates: 9, 10, 16 April

Venue: Alive Cafe, Muizenberg, Western Cape, South Africa (Alive Cafe web, Alive Cafe Facebook)

All of us participate in natural creative processes in all areas of our lives, including the natural creative processes involved in writing. Many of us do this unconsciously. But with an awareness of how the natural creative process works and with the necessary tools for supporting and guiding yourself in the process, your writing projects will unfold and develop with greater ease and success.

When you write any type of text – novels, short stories, autobiographies, how-to books, poems, among others – you are participating in a natural creative process. This course will equip you with the self-management skills necessary to align yourself with this process. But it will also provide you with a writer's toolkit – the writing skills necessary to complete all of your writing projects with ease and confidence.

This course is aimed at anyone who wants to align themselves with the natural creative process in all areas of their lives, enjoy their writing, improve their writing or earn an income from their writing. This includes journal writers, students, bloggers, social commentators, and businesspeople, as well as those want to launch their careers as fiction and non-fiction authors.

On this course you will learn how to situate yourself and your writing projects in the writing process, a natural creative process. In doing so, you will be in a position to guide and manage your writing projects. Consequently, your writing projects will become easier and more enjoyable.

Among the many skills you will learn on this course are the following:

  • techniques for generating writing ideas
  • techniques for structuring your writing
  • how to use reference works
  • how to punctuate your writing
  • how to edit your writing.

In the process, you will:

  • improve your creativity
  • improve your thinking
  • improve your writing
  • learn to plan and execute your writing
  • improve your productivity
  • learn to deal with 'writer's block'.

Course participants are awarded a certificate on successful completion of the course. A number of electives offering specialization in various areas of writing are available to anyone who has completed the 'Natural Creative Process in Writing and Life' course.
