Rewriting, content writing, copywriting and ghostwriting
In some intances, texts require input that is beyond copyediting, usually involving substantial rewording and restructuring. This is referred to as rewriting.
Content writing attracts readers and engages them. Its goal is inform and educate, to create good, lasting impressions.
Copywriting is aimed at persuading readers to take action, usually involving buying a product or service. In other words, it is writing to sell.
Ghostwriting involves standing in – usually anonymously – for someone else. Prospective clients are industry specialists, nonfiction and fiction authors, and those who are not first-language speakers of English. Types of text requiring ghostwriting include blogs, proposals, reports, presentations, user manuals, software help manuals, web sites, newsletters, articles, and books.
